Mommy's Childhood Dress

My grandmother made me this dress when I was about Felicity's age. The story goes that she saw a similar dress at a shop and was shocked at the high price tag. So she decided to sew the dress herself. By the time she bought all the materials, it cost her about 30 dollars (1980), which was more than the dress at the shop! Anyhow, my mother saved the dress and so Felicity got to wear it for Christmas Eve.

Deer Refuge

Herds of deer are quite the common sight this winter. The hunters who visit us all marvel at the large bucks.

Ornament Thief

Felicity keeps nabbing one particular ornament off the tree. It is a little heart-shaped one with buttons and ribbons and such glued to it, made by my grandmother. Doesn't her mischievous look just say it all?

Christmas Tree Arrives

We are late getting the tree up this year, but we have lots of good excuses. We bought the tree this morning at a lot that selectively harvests trees from state land in such a way as to benefit the forest. We decorated it while Felicity napped, and she was delighted by it upon awakening.

Company Christmas Party 2009

We took Felicity to the annual Children's Christmas Party that David's company throws. She was delighted with the tree in the lobby and mainly wanted to hang out there.

Her reaction to Santa Claus was about the same as last year...

She had an enjoyable time eating cookies and looking at her new puppy book. We also had fun catching up with friends.

Felicity's Crib

I snapped this picture of Felicity playing. She loves her crib and likes to throw herself down onto the mattress. We plan on converting to a toddler bed in the next few weeks.

PIE!!!

One of the delights of the season for Felicity has been discovering pie. She loves pumpkin pie! Now every morning we wake to chants of "Milk, bananas, cake, pie". Needless to say, she typically only gets the first two for breakfast! (Although, I admit we did have pie for breakfast on Thanksgiving day...)

Thanksgiving 2009

Felicity has finally become a toddler. We sometimes thought that this moment would never come and that she would spend the rest of her life crawling and "walking" on her knees. It's all coming together now though, and here is what she looks like.

Notice the card in the lower right corner. Felicity thinks they are all "books" and loves to carry them back and forth from the living room to the dining room.

David's brother Scott and his wife Sue were kind enough to host Thanksgiving this year. We were very thankful, as my energy levels are low right now.

Felicity was intent on exploring the house, so Aunt Sue distracted her by pulling out the Jenga game. Much fun ensued as towers were built and the knocked down by Felicity.

Happy pregnant lady relaxing after, uh, not doing too much, really.

Denver Children's Museum

We met a group of moms and their children at the Denver Children's Museum. It was very nicely built with lots of exhibits. Felicity and I had a great time. Here she is playing in the supermarket area. Every elongated fruit or vegetable is a "banana"...

and every round one is an "apple".

There was a fun nature exhibit with oversized animal habitats. One habitat is a rabbit hole with stairs up and a slope down. Although scared, my determined daughter managed to finally climb those stairs by herself. Here is Felicity playing with the birds.

They also had a fun exhibit with a little house...

and fishing from a boat.

Grandpa's Got Talent!

My Dad came out recently to help us with Felicity. She had a good time playing with "Papa". She had such a good time I couldn't get a picture of both of them looking at the camera at the same time. Dad's sure got a talent for balancing toys on his head!

Here is the obligatory "Bowl on My Head" shot.

Audrey's Wedding

I was recently privileged to be a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. David and Felicity sat in the back, but they had to leave midway through the service because Felicity was tossing her hat up in the air and giggling. She loves hats and apparently they make great toys. Here are some photos from the reception. The dress, bolero jacket, and hat are the ones I made, but I couldn't get a good shot of all three on Felicity.

Felicity's New Hat

I have finally finished knitting Felicity's lavender ensemble. Lesson learned: always check the needle size before you order the pattern book and yarn. The needles and yarn are so small it took me about 6 months or so to make the whole outfit. She was interested in wearing the hat, so I snapped a few pictures.

Texas Trip

I try to take a yearly trip to Texas to see my grandparents and uncle's family. This year I flew pregnant and with Felicity as my lap child since David was needed in Colorado. That made it quite the trip! Here are a few family photos with my Grandpa, brother, and Grandma.

I couldn't resist adding the picture of Felicity enjoying her spaghetti!

Glenwood Springs

We stayed at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs for a couple of nights and enjoyed hanging out around the town. We spent much of our time at the pool. We started at the little kid pool.

Then moved on to the huge main pool, with a dip in the hot tub every now and then.

We even managed to get my Dad to swim for a little bit. Here is photographic proof for you doubters!

This photo is now the background on our computer and Felicity loves to crawl into the room and make us minimize our programs to play "Where's Mommy?"

Here are some nice views from the pool.

We were surprised that Felicity enjoyed being underwater.

I also took my parents on their first rafting trip. We made it a float trip since I knew I was expecting again. They seemed to enjoy it!
